The door mask would need some careful placement on the Desert Rat with the shape of the door and windows, but the whole mask set will fit the stock AE body just fine.Since I'll be using this mask set on a Pro-Line Flo-Tek I shouldn't have a problem, the hood on it seems long enough in the pictures, and the door looks like it's about the same as the Ram and AE bodies. The Ram has a much longer windshield and shorter hood so placing the mask on it would be a little tricky to get the full effect of the design. They both have more hood area and less windshield than the Ram body.
It has a lot of vents, louvers, recesses, a hood scoop and the front fenders drop below the hood at the nose then raise over the hood right above the tires. However, there is a problem with the Flo-Tek hood. Kind of a good news bad news update though.The mask fit the body great as far as size goes and the roof and the side pieces went on perfectly. The new body and paint should be here Monday.Got the Pro-Line Flo-Tek body in Monday as expected, the paint didn't get here until Thursday.
Body will most likely split duty between one of my SC10 4x4's and the SC10 RS.A link to the e-Bay store selling ProMask paint masks. Something like 8015, 8355 or 8490.This 8480 design will work great for the Associated bodies and on the Pro-Line Desert Rat with their large and relatively flat hoods.Pro-Line Flo-Tek (#3355-00) short course body and ProMask paint mask #8480 ready for its first coat of Tamiya spray paint. I'll buy another Flo-Tek soon and use a different mask on it. It just won't look right without a design on the hood that is similar to the sides and roof.These are great quality paint masks that will create crisp, clean lines on most bodies, but the Flo-Tek hood has too much going on for this particular design. I should be able to keep the design flowing from the hood to the rear with the side sections since they're not as complex as the hood sections and I should be able to avoid some of the scoops, louvers etc.I prefer to spend the money on a second paint mask over painting the body with the hood mask out of place and ripped or missing. So I ended up removing the hood mask altogether and ordered this same mask (along with mask #8330) to try again, but I'll be using the lower side pieces on the hood.
Will update with more pictures and a freshly painted body in a day or two.
